Much of my life has been spent in a combination of business and policy, political organizing and creative endeavors that have a political edge to them. For example, one of the projects I was engaged in once was a game, which is a great teaching technique, for a subject that is most certainly political too. It just doesn’t involve town hall meetings or votes.
These are the ways you change ideas about social justice in any country, just as literature does, for example and require sophisticated understandings of the issues at stake, the history involved, and the ultimate outcome of the issue you wish to achieve, something that seems to be missing from most people’s understanding.
In crass terms, when used for ill will or to hurt people, or for a regressive social agenda, or for example to elect a president who turns out to be a complete liar in office, uhem, Barry, are you listening?
In others, it is a way to create a space for people to gain access to a safe space where they can examine their own prejudices and misunderstandings.
These skills are complimentary and cross into many areas. This tab till give a few examples of some of my more “political” endeavors.”
